AWE Update for Electronic Invoices According to ZUGFeRD and XRechnung in Germany

With the new mandatory requirements effective from January 1 in Germany, enterprises must adopt electronic invoices that comply with ZUGFeRD and XRechnung standards. This update introduces several enhancements to ensure compliance and improve usability.

The updated interface for managing company details now highlights fields in red if they do not meet the requirements of ZUGFeRD or XRechnung when creating alternative company details. This simplifies configuration and prevents errors.

A new measurement units management component allows enabling or disabling units, ensuring compliance with ISO 20.794 standards. Unsupported units like RAUM or Sack can be replaced with valid ones like PIECES.

Both ZUGFeRD and XRechnung standards are supported, catering to private businesses and governmental entities, respectively. ZUGFeRD includes both structured data and a human-readable PDF, while XRechnung is strictly XML-based.

Validation functionality has been added, ensuring that invoices meet all requirements before being finalized. For recurring orders, automatic validation detects issues early.

Caching has been introduced to improve performance when switching between document previews, especially for image-heavy reports.

These updates aim to streamline compliance, enhance productivity, and reduce validation errors in invoice processing.
